Let Them Come To The Water Lyrics
Dear All,I'm sure everyone can relate to moments when they feel like they are up against a brick wall or a facing trying situations and it seems like there is no way out. That is when God is drawing us to Himself, to surrender and let Him take care of the situation. Let Jesus comfort you. He will never forsake you.I was blessed by this video presentation of 'Come to the Water':May the peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always, adorerDear adorer,Thanks for posting this beautiful music and video with images of Jesus, showing His Love for all. The Scriptures on the video also help to remind us of Jesus' encouraging words of Love. When we are tempted toward discouragement, music can often help to soothe us and when the words are the Words of Scripture they truly can lift us into His arms, allowing us to be the sheep found by the Shepherd. We can recognize His Voice and know we are safe in His Care.May this video be a comfort to those who may be suffering in any way, from doubts, fears or any trying situation that may seem overwhelming. Jesus is always near, loving us even before we ask, seek or knock on the door of His Heart.
May it also be an encouragement for us to bring Him to others in our lives.Jesus, we trust in You.Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like Yours.Help us to learn from You, to 'hear and see' You with the ears and eyes of our hearts. Dear Nick and Deborah,I'm glad you were both blessed by that hymn/video. Someone obviously put a lot of time into adding the images.
I think the hymn was written by John Foley, although it was attributed to someone else on the video.I've found that when I am anxious, troubled, or depressed that it helps to turn to hymns. I've found many wonderful renditions on YouTube that way.It also helps to memorize hymns. They take on new meaning as you burn them into your memory and then you can take them with you wherever you go.Blessings always, adorer.

Many thanks, Adorer. As I watched the video it came to me that, while we often realize how close the Lord is to us during our prayer and worship time, we also are forgetful that He is with us throughout every moment.
The joys, the labors, the sorrows. Remembering that, and thinking to reach out for His hand first, even as we celebrate, is a source of true peace in our lives. This is very true, which is why I turned or returned to the song. I'm going to post the lyrics originally attributed to John Foley:Lyrics1. O let all who thirst, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord:without money, without price. Why should you pay the price, except for the Lord?2.
And let all who seek, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord:without money, without strife. Why should you spend your life, except for the Lord?3. And let all who toil, let them come to the water. And let all who are weary, let them come to the Lord:all who labor, without rest. How can your soul find rest, except for the Lord?4.
And let all the poor, let them come to the water,Bring the ones who are laden, bring them all to the Lord:bring the children without might.Easy the load and light:come to the Lord. Each verse addressed my various concerns as of late. The question, 'Why should you pay the price?' Relates to my practice. The way this world operates, people will engage in unethical practices to get ahead. I've found myself as the sole provider who hasn't caved. I know I am losing business and there's a temptation to say, 'if everyone else is doing it, it can't be all that bad'. From a business perspective, I'm a fool not to play along.
But, I have to remind myself to trust not in the wisdom of the world, but in the wisdom of God. To trust that God works all things unto good even during times when you feel that you are up against impossible odds. The song answers that question, 'Except for the Lord'. Jesus told us to take up our cross and follow Him. To follow the straight and narrow path.
To trust in Him. He tells us, 'Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.' 'My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness.'
The second verse asks, 'Why should you spend your life?' That verse reminded me of why I went into the field and prompted me to visit a patient at the hospital. The third verse asks, 'How can your soul find rest?' The battle between good and evil will always tempt our souls if we don't turn to the Lord. The final verse refers to the children, which is most encouraging, because I have a child on the way. It's almost as if the song, for me at this point in my life, progresses from fear and anxiety to joy!I'm sure for others it will speak to them in other ways and at different points in our life, it will apply in different ways.Your sister in Christ, adorer. Dear adorer,Thanks for the lyrics, and for the explanation of how the words helped you to remember God's Work in your own life.May the Lord continue to bless you and your husband especially as you await your new baby. In your sharing of how the hymn brought you from fear, anxiety to joy, it seemed similar in the lives of Mary and Joseph. There were fears and anxieties when the Lord entered into their lives in a radically new way. Many times we may be tempted to doubt, and our faith may seem very weak and small, but God's Grace is sufficient and when we turn to Him, we find He never left us.
He is always near to help us. He never permits any cross we cannot carry with His Grace.May your new baby grow as Jesus did, in wisdom age and grace before God and men. Just watched it again and was very moved (Those images from 'The Passion of the Christ' have made me want to see that again.)It's a beautiful song and there's a video next to the one you posted that has lyrics on the screen so you can sing along. Thanks again for sharing, adorer, and for letting us know what it meant for you. Prayers for you, your family and your baby on the way.

Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.' On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, 'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: 'Streams of living water will flow from within him.' 'But Peter replied, 'May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.And He told me, 'It is done!
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life. The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' Let the one who hears say, 'Come!' And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely. As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul longs after You, O God.My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God's presence?I stretch out my hands to You; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land.
Selah'Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine I have mixed. The poor and needy seek water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. I, the LORD, will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and currents on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring. We must buy the water we drink; our wood comes at a price. Then the man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.Wherever the river flows, there will be swarms of living creatures and a great number of fish, because it flows there and makes the waters fresh; so wherever the river flows, everything will flourish.I will heal their apostasy; I will freely love them, for My anger has turned away from them. And in that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. All the streams of Judah will run with water, and a spring will flow from the house of the LORD to water the Valley of Acacias. LV.(1) Ho, every one that thirsteth.-The whole context shows that the water, the wine, the milk are all, symbols of spiritual blessings as distinctly as they are, e.g., in;;. The Word 'buy' is elsewhere confined to the purchase of corn, and would not rightly have been used of wine and milk. The invitation is addressed, as in a tone of pity, to the bereaved and afflicted one of.Without money and without price.- 'Literally, For not-money and not-price.
The prophet had used the word 'buy,' but he feels that that word may be misinterpreted. 'No silver or gold can buy the blessing which He offers. Something, indeed, is required, and therefore the word' buy 'is still the right word; but the 'price' is simply the self-surrender that accepts the blessing.
AN EXHORTATION TO SPIRITUALITY AND REPENTANCE. The prophet passes from the ideal to the actual, from the glorious future to the unsatisfactory present. The people are not ripe for the blessings of the Messianic kingdom - they do not sufficiently value them. Hence a tender exhortation is addressed to them by God himself, inviting them to become more spiritually minded (vers. 1-3), and fresh promises are held out to the obedient (vers. The disobedient are then somewhat sternly exhorted to turn from their evil ways and repent (vers.
Ho, every one that thirsteth! Though the mass are gross and carnally minded, there will ever be some who have higher aspirations - who hunger and thirst after righteousness' , and desire spiritual blessings. These are invited, first of all, to come and partake of the good things provided for them in Messiah's kingdom.
Come ye to the waters (on the spiritual symbolism of water, see the homiletics on Isaiah 44:3, 4). Here the 'peace' and 'righteousness' of the Messianic kingdom are especially intended.
Our Lord's cry on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles is clearly an echo of this. Wine and milk. These are not symbols of temporal blessings, as many have thought. 'Wine, water, and milk are,' as Delitzsch says, 'figurative representations of spiritual revival, re-creation, and nourishment.' Without money and without price. God's spiritual gifts are freely given to men; they cannot be purchased. Being in their own nature 'more precious than rubies,' their value transcends human means of payment.
They cannot even be earned by man's best works; for man's best works are comprised in his duty to God, and have, therefore, no purchasing power. God may choose to reward them; but if he does it is of his free grace.
